Beth Haenke Just, MBA, RHIA, FHIMA – CEO and Senior Consultant
Beth founded Just Associates in 2002 and has grown it into one of the industry's leading providers of data integrity services that minimize the ongoing cost of maintaining patient data quality.
With more than 30 years of experience in the HIM sector, including executive-level positions at QuadraMed, Pyramid Health Group, New Era of Networks and Quality Visions, Inc., Beth brings to Just Associates a unique blend of HIM and technical expertise, including database and software design and management. Beth's strengths include project management, business development, healthcare business and operations management, product management and financial management. While her pragmatic business techniques, technological know-how and strong knowledge of the healthcare industry bring a unique value and quick return on investment to the clients she serves. Beth has completed hundreds of consulting engagements including MPI clean-ups, Patient Access assessments, MPI assessments, HIM operational reviews and EMPI needs assessments, and RFP development, as well as software development, testing and implementation projects for healthcare organizations, multi-facility IDNs and RHIOs. She has served in several officer, board and chair positions for AHIMA and the Colorado Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) and contributed to the "HIM Principles in HIE" and "Patient Identity in RHOs" workgroups. Beth was appointed co-chair for AHIMA's Health Information Exchange Practice Council in 2008 and is the past president of the Colorado HIMA. In 2014 Beth was asked to serve on the AHIMA Information Governance Task Force which will continue through the end of 2015. She was also recognized as the 2015 Colorado Health Information Management Association's "Distinguished Member."
Beth has also been a featured speaker at numerous State and National professional meetings including AHIMA, HIMSS and TEPR, as well as a number of software vendors' user group conferences (Cerner, Microsoft, IDX).In addition, she has authored and been quoted in articles published in the Journal of AHIMA, For the Record, Healthcare IT News and Modern Healthcare. She was the lead author on AHIMA's Practice Brief: HIM Principles in Health Information Exchange. Beth earned her Bachelor of Arts at College of Saint Scholastica and her Master in Business Administration at the University of Colorado.
Karen Proffitt, MHIIM, RHIA, CHP – Vice President, Identity Enterprise Solutions
As Vice President of Identity Enterprise Solutions, Karen oversees the day-to-day operations of Just Associates' MPI clean up and consulting services. She is also responsible for strategic development of new services and solutions that leverage the firm's unique data integrity capabilities to serve evolving market needs. Karen has more than 30 years of experience in HIM leadership roles, with a strong expertise in electronic health records, EMPI management, Epic implementation, medical record document management, legal/privacy issues and data governance.
Karen is a member of AHIMA. At the state level, she served as a director for the Colorado Health Information Management Association in 2008 and was president of the Tennessee Health Information Management Association from 1997 to 1998. Karen is past president of the Upper East Tennessee Health Information Management Association and the Mid-East Tennessee Health Information Management Association. She also served as the education chair on medical records for McKesson's INSIGHT HIS user group, from 1994-2000. Karen earned her Bachelor's degree in Medical Record Administration and her Masters in Health Information/Informatics from the University of Tennessee.
Susan Lucci, RHIA, CHPS, CHDS, AHDI-F – Senior Consultant / Sr. Mgr. Patient Identity Team / CPO
As Chief Privacy Officer/Consultant, Susan oversees all HIPAA related activities and monitors compliance with federal and state laws and with JA's information privacy practices. She is also responsible for providing consulting services for EMPI, HIM Data Integrity and Security/Privacy projects. Susan has more than 25 years of diverse experience within hospital/healthcare settings and has held Privacy Officer Roles for other national organizations. She has worked extensively in operations leadership, project management, information technology, quality assurance and process improvement.
Susan is a nationally recognized speaker and currently serves on the AHIMA Information Governance Practice Council and previously served on the Privacy and Security Council. Susan was a contributing author in the 2014 HIMSS book "Implementing Information Security in Healthcare: Building a Security Program" and has written numerous articles and practice briefs for publications such as For the Record, Advance, Plexus and the Journal of AHIMA. Susan was named Top 10 in HIM for 2008 and again in 2010 by ADVANCE for Health Information Professionals. She served as the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) National President. Susan is a graduate of St Petersburg College and the University of Cincinnati in HIM.
Julie A. Dooling, MSHI, RHIA, CHDA, FAHIMA - Vice President, National Sales
Vice President, National Sales, Just Associates
Ms. Dooling serves as Vice President, National Sales for Just Associates, a nationally recognized provider of patient data integrity solutions. In her role, she oversees sales and business development for a suite of services including master patient index clean-ups, ongoing MPI outsourcing, and algorithmic optimization. Julie brings to her role a rich background in HIM, spanning multiple sectors. She is also a published author and frequent public speaker.
Previously, she was Director of HIM Practice Excellence at AHIMA, where she led the informatics and data analytics service line. While there, she was responsible for initiatives related to patient identity and matching at the Federal level and acted as primary faculty for CHDA exam preparation workshops. Julie’s experience includes owning and operating a transcription service, serving as HIM manager of a large integrated healthcare delivery system, and providing sales support and operational management for leading document management vendors serving the U.S. and Canada.
Julie holds a Master of Science in Health Informatics and Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration from the University of Cincinnati, as well as AHIMA’s Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) credential. She holds the awarded designation of Fellow American Health Information Management Association. Julie is active in her AHIMA component state association, the Missouri Health Information Management Association (MOHIMA), where she presently serves as President-Elect.
Emilie Paternoster, RHIA - Vice President, Eastern Regional Sales
As Vice President of Data Integrity Services and Sales, Emilie oversees the sales and contracts operations for Just Associates Data Identity Integrity and Consulting departments. With more than 35 years of experience in healthcare management in a variety of healthcare settings, Emilie has worked with a number of clients, assisting them in evaluating their EMPI/MPI strategies and technology. She possesses strong project management skills and has successfully managed projects ranging from the selection and implementation of EMPI technology to MPI cleanup and MRN conversion projects. Emilie also possesses considerable experience in client management and has served in various roles for large IT vendors, providing solutions to healthcare providers.
Emilie is a member of AHIMA, was president of the Delaware chapter of AHIMA from 1985 to 1986 and the Maryland Health Information Management Association from 2011 to 2012. She has also chaired numerous State committees. On a National level, Emilie served as the chairperson for the Council on Public Affairs and the chair of the Ad-Hoc Task Force on the Prospective Payment System. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management from York College of Pennsylvania.
Rachel Podczervinski, RHIA - Senior Manager of Identity Solutions
As Senior Manager of Identity Solutions, Rachel has experience managing over 50 data reconciliation projects. She has led a team of six managers, eight supervisors, 20 quality assurance specialists, and 64 patient identity experts to identify and correct duplicate records hiding in systems using a sophisticated patient matching algorithm. She is a recognized leader in EMPI maintenance and management in both Colorado and the U.S. With over 15 years of experience working with patient identity and master patient index management in hospitals across the country, Rachel's contributions provide an example of how leadership, staff and project management, communication and data reconciliation experience come together to improve the patient identity landscape. Based on this, she was recently presented with the Rising Star Award from the Colorado Health Information Management Association (CHIMA). She is currently working on obtaining her Masters in Health Informatics and Information Management from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn.
Megan Munns Pruente, RHIA, Identity Manager
Megan Munns Pruente, (RHIA) is Identity Manager at Just Associates, a role she quickly assumed after first joining the company as a supervisor. Shortly thereafter, she was promoted to a project manager, where she assisted in the setup of Just Associate’s Project Management Office. Now as Identity Manager, Megan is responsible for overseeing data reconciliation projects, resource management and allocation, staff development, business development, and budget management. She also holds responsibility for project strategy, planning and execution.
Prior to joining Just Associates, Megan was a business systems analyst with Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, WI, where she was responsible for deploying the organization’s implementation of Epic across 11 hospitals and a number of clinics. She is Epic-certified in HIM (Coding and Abstracting, Release of Information, Deficiency Tracking) and Identity applications.
Megan prides herself in giving back to the HIM profession by serving on the advisory board of a Colorado-based HIM program, as well as mentoring students. She is active in the Colorado Health Information Management Association (CHIMA), currently serving as co-chair of the Technology Committee and previously serving as Board Secretary. Megan also serves on the AHIMA HIE Practice Council and participates on a number of council projects. Megan was recognized with the prestigious Rising Star award from both CHIMA and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in 2014.
Megan received her bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics and Information Management from The College of Saint Scholastica and she is presently working to complete her Masters in Public Health with a concentration of Public Health Informatics. Megan is a frequent speaker on data integrity and quality-related topics.
