HIPAA Privacy and Security Consulting
In 2007, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) implemented a program to randomly audit healthcare organizations compliance with HIPAA security regulations and the first audit was recently completed at Piedmont Hospital (Atlanta, GA). On January 8, 2008, Modern Healthcare reported that CMS has hired Price Waterhouse Coopers to conduct compliance reviews of the security programs at hospitals around the country. They expect to review 10 to 20 organizations within the next nine months. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is hiring more staff to expand their enforcement capabilities of the privacy regulations.
Just Associates' Privacy and Security Consulting Services can provide your organization with an analysis of your current process and procedures to ensure that you are effectively managing these important healthcare information requirements. We can also provide you with information and guidance to ensure that your organization is doing what is necessary to be in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Privacy and Security Risk Management Assessments
An assessment of the organization's current risk exposure as well as the state of their implementation of HIPAA privacy and/or security standards provides a roadmap for addressing and reducing that exposure. We provide recommendations for risk reduction or mitigation using industry standard solutions. Our consultants are also experienced in providing process re-engineering support.
Privacy and Security Policies and Procedures Development
We develop the required policies, procedures, and plans as well as the documents needed to support them. We also develop the tools needed to provide decision support for implementation of those policies.
Privacy & Security Training
JA's training programs are customized for the organization and include basic and role-based training packages for staff. JA develops a training infrastructure that includes required security reminders and training tracking processes that can coordinate with Compliance training programs. JA can deliver training to all staff directly or via a train-the-trainer format. JA can also create customized videos for privacy and security training.
Contingency Planning
JA consultants can address your business continuity needs including Disaster Recovery Plans, Emergency Mode Plans, Data Backup Plans as well as the performance of application and data criticality analysis.
Business Associate Relationships
JA consultants can provide a review of BA relationships supported by the organization. This includes evaluation of existing BA Agreements to ensure appropriate content for privacy and security and organizational compliance with those agreements.
Intranet Support Website Development
JA can assist you in developing your internal website for hosting required documents such as privacy and security policies, procedures, forms, decision support tools and employee privacy and security training materials.
Workflow Analysis and Reengineering of Business Processes
We evaluate your business processes and ensure that they are compliant and effective in supporting the core values of the organization. We identify, document, and communicate the workflow impact on multi-disciplinary care processes. We develop business-based systems and toolkits to support Business Unit compliance processes, and serve as a compliance consultant to all segments of the organization. We also work closely with your legal department in developing the short and long term strategy for the compliance program within the organization.
